Everything journalists, analysts, and partners need to cover OpenScouter.

Company Overview

OpenScouter is an accessibility testing platform that connects businesses with neurodivergent testers to uncover real usability barriers that automated tools miss. Founded at Imperial College London, the company addresses a critical gap in digital accessibility: cognitive usability for the 15–20% of users who are neurodivergent.

The platform combines structured human testing sessions with a four-engine AI analysis pipeline to deliver prioritised, actionable accessibility reports. Testers with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other neurodivergent conditions complete guided sessions using the OpenScouter browser extension, which captures behavioural data across clicks, navigation, scroll patterns, and optional facial expression analysis.

OpenScouter serves regulated industries including financial services, insurance, and public sector organisations preparing for the European Accessibility Act (EAA) deadline in June 2025.

What We Do

For businesses: OpenScouter provides structured accessibility studies that go beyond WCAG compliance. Companies commission a study, define the user journey to test, and receive a detailed report with prioritised findings, severity ratings, and remediation guidance.

For testers: OpenScouter creates paid, flexible work for neurodivergent people whose lived experience is an asset, not a limitation. Testers are matched to studies based on their neurodivergent profile and complete sessions at their own pace.

The technology: Four AI engines analyse each test session, correlating behavioural data, tester commentary, and emotional signals into a single report. The system supports 12 neurodivergent profiles including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and anxiety conditions.
